Who is Anne-Marie?
Anne-Marie is an award-winning people operations executive and founder. She has 20+ years of experience leading change and growth at global tech teams. Anne-Marie has been instrumental in transforming Fortune 500 companies — including Google, Uber, and Cisco — and building out high-performance cultures at critical times.
One of Anne-Marie’s proudest achievements is her role in the leadership team responsible for integrating 5,500 employees worldwide from NDS, Cisco’s largest acquisition to date valued at $5B with revenues over $1B. As Head of HR at Uber, Anne-Marie led people strategy, workforce planning, organisational development, governance, and employee experience across Northern and Eastern Europe, pre and post-IPO.
With keen interests in technology, people, and community giving, Anne-Marie has remained dedicated to her passions in her free time as a Board Advisor at Salary Finance, a financial well-being organisation. She’s also a Board Advisor at a video software business helping companies maximise hybrid working models and improve connection and employee engagement. Alongside these roles, Anne-Marie is an Independent Member of the Council’s Remuneration Committee at the University of Warwick.
Proving that you don’t have to be a techie to enjoy a long, rewarding career in the sector, Anne-Marie is a proud recipient of the national STEM Leader of the Year Award at the 2018 Black British Business Awards for her contributions to the field. She has also helped individuals and companies realise their full potential and drive greater diversity and inclusion within the technology sector. Anne-Marie has worked with several corporations to implement effective mechanisms for combating systemic bias and advancing underrepresented talent. This work includes leading regional DEI strategy formulation and implementation.
Over the past two decades, Anne-Marie’s volunteer work has helped over 10,000 young people build confidence, employability skills, navigate the world of work, and consider careers in entrepreneurship and STEM. These organisations include the Citizens of Advice Bureau, Young Enterprise, Your Future Your Ambition, STEM Learning UK, and the Aleto Foundation. Anne-Marie is a trustee of OnSide Youth Zones, an organisation with the goal of building 100 state-of-the-art youth facilities across the UK. She’s a former trustee of Reedham Children’s Trust, a 170-year-old charity that provides life-changing support to some of the most vulnerable children in the UK.
Anne-Marie’s passion for effective, inclusive, people functions — combined with her entrepreneurial spirit — led her to found her people operations consultancy, Workforce Buddy, in 2020. Workforce Buddy aims to support underserved groups of business leaders, founders, entrepreneurs, and venture builders by giving them access to high-quality, cost-effective people consulting. Anne-Marie is proud to give back to her community through various philanthropies and sets aside a portion of Workforce Buddy’s profits to deliver pro bono services to underrepresented founders.
